Offshore Hosting: What It Means
Offshore hosting means using hosting infrastructure in a country or jurisdiction selected for location, privacy, connectivity, resilience or operational reasons. It may include offshore web hosting, offshore shared hosting, offshore VPS and offshore dedicated servers.
Offshore hosting does not provide immunity from law, court orders, datacenter rules, upstream network requirements or VeltrixHost policies. Illegal activity, fraud, scams, phishing, credential theft, malware, abusive spam, attacks and other prohibited conduct are not allowed on VeltrixHost services.
1. VeltrixHost’s Role
VeltrixHost provides hosting and infrastructure. Depending on the product, VeltrixHost may have account-level access on shared hosting, while customers typically have exclusive administrative control over VPS and dedicated servers. For unmanaged servers, VeltrixHost generally cannot selectively edit a customer’s files and may only be able to forward a complaint, restrict network access or suspend a service where action is required.
2. Copyright Notice Handling for Offshore Web Hosting
Offshore web hosting may use location-specific copyright notice handling. It is not permission to infringe copyright, host illegal material or disregard legal obligations. VeltrixHost reviews notices and does not assume that a message labeled “DMCA” automatically establishes infringement or the required remedy.
Whether U.S. or another jurisdiction’s law applies cannot be determined solely by server location. Valid legal process, applicable law, registrar rules and binding datacenter or network requirements may require removal, restriction or suspension. No plan guarantees that disputed content will remain available.
3. What a Copyright Complaint Should Include
- Identity and contact information of the complainant or authorized representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work or right claimed to be infringed.
- Exact URL, hostname, domain or IP information sufficient to locate the complained-of material.
- A description of why the complainant believes the use is unauthorized and the legal basis relied upon.
- A good-faith statement that the information supplied is accurate and that the complainant is authorized to act.
- Any court order, injunction, registry decision or other binding legal instrument being relied upon.
4. Review Process
VeltrixHost may verify whether the notice identifies a VeltrixHost service, whether enough evidence has been supplied, what jurisdiction/location applies, whether the complaint concerns the domain registrar rather than hosting, and whether an upstream provider has imposed a binding response requirement. VeltrixHost may ask for clarification, reject incomplete complaints, forward the complaint to the customer, or require remediation.
5. Customer Response
Where appropriate, VeltrixHost may give the customer an opportunity to explain authorization, license, ownership, fair-use/fair-dealing arguments, mistaken identification or other relevant facts. This internal response process is not a substitute for any statutory counter-notice procedure that may apply in a particular jurisdiction.
6. Domain Names and Copyright Complaints
Domain registration is distinct from website hosting. A complaint about content hosted behind a domain should generally be directed to the responsible hosting provider. VeltrixHost or the upstream registrar may nevertheless act on a domain where required by ICANN/registry policy, a court order, phishing/malware rules, abuse requirements, or other applicable legal process.
7. Repeat or Serious Infringement
Repeated, clearly documented or legally determined infringement may result in restriction or termination, especially where the customer ignores valid remediation requests or exposes upstream networks to recurring legal risk. Fraudulent or knowingly false complaints may be rejected and documented.
8. Submit a Complaint
Submit copyright complaints through the VeltrixHost support system with the information listed above. Automated notices containing only a domain name, broad search results or unsupported allegations may not be sufficient for action.
These website policies are intended to state VeltrixHost’s service rules clearly. Mandatory law may create rights or obligations that cannot be excluded by contract. If a requirement is important to your order, contact VeltrixHost before payment.
